What is a GPN file

GPN files mostly belong to GlidePlan by GlidePlan Inc. GlidePlan is pre-flight cross country planning software for the glider pilot. This is a text file containing a pointer to an associated .JPG file of an FAA aviation sectional map used for VFR navigation. The file also contains information needed to generate custom graphic overlays and markups produced by the GlidePlan application. These markups are used by cross country glider pilots to explore and plan possible flights.

How to open GPN files

You need a suitable software like GlidePlan to open a GPN file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your GPN file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a GPN file directly in the browser:.
