Opening an HTD File
The HTD file type is primarily associated with Opera Phenix.
What is an HTD file?
- High-Throughput Microscopy Data: These files hold imaging information from automated microscopy systems. They are used to record and analyze large sets of biological or chemical images. More details can be found at PerkinElmer.
- HTTP Traffic Data: This type keeps records of network activity. The data, often stored within a ZIP format, is used for load testing and security evaluation with tools like HPE LoadRunner and IBM Rational AppScan. See LoadRunner Professional for more information.
- Heat Transfer Data: These files store measurements or simulation results related to heat transfer. They are used in engineering studies to track temperature and energy flow.
- Soil Test Data: This format is also used for recording soil analysis results. Data from tests regarding soil properties can be processed by programs such as HTD.exe and analyzed as HyperTest or Hyper Historian data.

Programs that open and convert HTD files:
- Opera Phenix
See the previous paragraphs to learn more about the main application. HTD files are often referred to as Opera Phenix data files because this type of file is primarily created or used by this software.
- HyperTRANSCRIBE (Project File) by ResearchWare, Inc.HyperTRANSCRIBE lets you open and play most popular audio and video formats, and provides both graphical and keyboard control to play, pause, and loop playback so your hands never have to leave the keyboard while transcribing.
HTD file format:
To find out what program is needed to open HTD files, you need to determine the file format. The first characters in a file identify the file format, for example, HTML files start with the bytes <html>. Nonetheless, different programs can utilize the same file extension to represent distinct file formats. Double-clicking on the file often results in an error when opening. Knowledge is power - this also applies when dealing with unknown or faulty files. Below is our analysis of the HTD files:
The HTD file type is used by a few programs, each with its own file format. But the following two file formats are common:
- 35% of all HTD files have the same signature "HTSInfoFile",. If you open these files in a text editor, you can view and read the content yourself. HTD files can be up to 3 KB in size, but are often around 900 bytes - 1 KB. This file type is new and state-of-the-art. The following keywords are characteristic: "HTSInfoFile", Version 1.0, Description, "TimePoints", 1, "ZSteps", 1, "ZSeries", FALSE, "ZProjection", FALSE, XWells, "PlateType", 8, YWells, apoptosis and FITC. Files like these are sometimes connected to tbio, lunguenv and lowerexp.
- 15% of all HTD files use ZIP compression, the HTD file contains a number of compressed files. 4 to 4 compressed files with names like CustomData.xml, Index.xls, ParsingOptions.xml and RawTraffic.dat are common. A little tip: If you rename the file extension to .zip and then double-click, you will see the included files and images. The files are 1 KB to 3 MB in size, with a median of 500 KB. Several words can almost always be found in the files, e.g. CustomData.xml, Index.xls and J-,M-.)V. Such files sometimes refer to login, bava and scan.
All other HTD files (50%) have no consistent format, such as TEST. If you want to find out which format your HTD file belongs to, just click on the button "Choose your .htd file to view".
Technical Data for HTD File Extension

How to solve problems with HTD files
- Associate the HTD file extension with the correct application.
- Update your software that should actually open data files. Because only the current version supports the latest HTD file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the manufacturer website after an available Opera Phenix update.
- To make sure that your HTD file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
- Click here to open your .HTD file online - secure, fast, and no downloads needed.
