What is a KDC file?

KDC files mostly belong to Kaspersky Antivirus by Kaspersky Lab. KDC filename extension is associated with files containing virus definitions (bases) used to update the virus database in Kaspersky Antivirus. These virus definitions are saved as binary data files which the antivirus uses to detect, remove, or quarantine viruses on a computer. The filename of each virus definition downloaded by Kaspersky is base###.kdc where "###" represents a 3-digit counter indicating the version of the update. KDC is also the filename extension of documents created with Kwalitan qualitative data analysis software. EasyShare and DC digital cameras manufactured by Kodak save RAW images in two different KDC formats. While both formats are based on TIFF format, the image formats used by DC series cameras are not exactly the same as those captured with the EasyShare series. The full resolution photograph in a KDC image is embedded in the sub-IFD of the first IFD tag in the file.

How to open a KDC file

You need a suitable software like Kaspersky Antivirus to open a KDC file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert.
