LTR file extension format:
The file format determines how the data is stored in the file. Often, the file format can be deduced from the file extension or the initial bytes (called the signature). Frequently, however, one file extension is used by different programs for different file formats, and one file format for different file extensions. Knowledge is power - this also applies when dealing with unknown or faulty files. Below is our analysis of the LTR files:
The LTR file extension is not widely used. Such a file mainly uses a special format. The following file formats are most commonly found in LTR files:
- 65% of all LTR files are based on the well-known WordPerfect file format. WordPerfect is a word processor now owned by Corel and has a long history that began in the 1980s. It may contain formatted text, tables, charts, drawn objects, and images. These files contain neither text nor words, but only data. The files are 1 KB to 11 KB in size, with a median of 3 KB. This file type was primarily in use more than 20 years ago. Files like these are about court, and often include person-related information.
- 4% of all LTR files are based on the popular XML file format. The Extensible Markup Language (XML) is a simple text-based format for representing structured information: documents, webpages, data, configuration, books, transactions, invoices, and much more. XML defines a set of rules for encoding documents in a format that is both human-readable and machine-readable. The contents of these files are partially readable with a text editor. LTR files are between 11 KB and 310 KB in size. The keywords <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-16"?>, <LtrSchema Version="3" /> and <Trend Version="0.5"> are typical for these files.
All other LTR files (31%) have different formats, often, for example, WLMLTRID. The category is xmas, modul or letter. Just click the "Choose your .ltr file to analyze" button on this page to find out what your LTR file is.
