What is a MODEL file

MODEL files mostly belong to CATIA by Dassault Systèmes. A MODEL is a 3D product part, assembly, or mold model created with CAD programs like CATIA and 3D Builder. A 3D Builder MODEL file contains XML-encoded data saved in 3D Manufacturing Format (3MF). Another type of MODEL file is a pre-trained model used by machine learning and natural language processing libraries such as TensorFlow and PyTorch. Video games such as World of Tanks, PES 16, PES 13, Company of Heroes, and Payday 2 use a MODEL file to store 2D/3D game character/object models. Despite using the same filename extension (MODEL), such game models are actually saved in different formats.

How do you open MODEL files?

You need a suitable software like CATIA to open a MODEL file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. How to solve problems with MODEL files

Associate the MODEL file extension with the correct application.
