What is an MVR file?

MVR files mostly belong to MongoDB. Your MVR file serves one of two roles:

MongoDB Data File: This file holds structured records used in a database environment. Some files in this group are also known as Yamaha MVR-EX Recorder Files, which means they are tied to recording or similar applications. They require MongoDB client tools to view or manage the data.

Lighting Design File: This file is used by MA Lighting systems such as grandMA2 and grandMA3. It stores show data, including lighting cues and configurations, and uses the ZIP format internally. To open and view these files, you need the proprietary MA Lighting software.

How to open an MVR file

You need a suitable software like MongoDB to open an MVR file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your MVR file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a MVR file directly in the browser:.
