What is a PCO file?

PCO files mostly belong to PhysioControl CaseView.

About PCO Files:

Most PCO files are Physio Control reports that store detailed event and patient data using a Microsoft Compound file structure. They are a container that holds multiple streams, which means different types of data can coexist in one file.

  • Medical Reports: The majority are generated by PhysioControl systems and house clinical data and event records. Use PhysioControl CaseView or similar software to access them. More information is available at Stryker.
  • Outline Processor Files: A smaller group comes from PCOutline applications, storing outline structures and document data.
  • Calibration Data Files: Some files serve as patient calibration data for imaging systems like Philips Optical Coherence Tomography. Details can be seen at Excelitas.
  • Physics Configuration Files: A few are used in configuring physics parameters in simulation games such as Microsoft Flight Simulator and FlatOut 2. See more at Flight Simulator.

FilExt.com note: Each PCO file is created for a specific purpose. Confirm the file’s origin to choose the appropriate viewer or editor.

How to open PCO files

You need a suitable software like PhysioControl CaseView to open a PCO file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your PCO file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a PCO file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

PCO file format details:

Why is it important to know the file format? This is the only way to find out which program to use to open the file. The first characters in a file identify the file format, for example, HTML files start with the bytes <html>. If the file extension does not match the file format, double-clicking on the file will cause an error upon opening. Exact knowledge of the format is therefore important in order to solve problems occurring in files. In the following you will find our evaluation of the PCO files:

The PCO file ending predominantly uses a uniform format. But the following two file formats are common:

The remaining 20% of all PCO files are different files with different signatures. Drag & drop your file here to see the file format and a preview of your PCO file!
