What is a PSE file

PSE files mostly belong to Photoshop Elements by Adobe. PSE is the default file format of photo projects created with Photoshop Elements. Files saved in this format have PSE filename extension and they contain multi-layer images, layers, effects, and edits in the project. PSE is similar to PSD file format. However, Photoshop preserves all layers and image data as a single page file, whereas Photoshop Elements represents the image data and layers in PSE files as a multi-page file. PSE is also the filename extension of the personal security environment file that is used to authenticate incoming connections to an SAP server environment. SAP is an enterprise resource planning software. PSE was the filename extension of the Page Segment bitmap graphics format used by older IBM printers . How do you open PSE files?

You need a suitable software like Photoshop Elements to open a PSE file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. • 60% of all PSE files use the same file format, which can be identified by the letters "7D 71" at the beginning. They consist of illegible, cryptic characters. The file size is in the range of 560 KB to 11 MB. The file type is relatively new. The following keywords are characteristic: moviescenesq, (cpymol, Session_Storage, sessionq, namesq, versionq, color_ext]U, settingsq, selector_secrets]U and mainq. Such PSE files store data about pymol, alignment, structure and protein.
• 20% of all PSE files save the data in certificate file format. A digital certificate is a unique, digitally signed document which authoritatively identifies the identity of an individual or organization. Using public key cryptography, its authenticity can be verified to ensure that the software or website you are using is legitimate. They consist of unreadable binary data. The files are 690 bytes to 8 KB in size, with a median of 2 KB. A common filename is SAPSSLS.pse.
