What is a PWD file?

PWD files mostly belong to Solid Edge by Siemens. A PWD file is a weldment design created with Solid Edge 3D solid modelling and engineering software. A weldment design contains specifications that a welding tool uses to weld two metal pieces in an assembly. Another type of PWD file contains a 2D product part model created with DynaCAD design software. Some versions of AutoCAD 3D design/drawing software use a lock file which has PWD filename extension.

How to open PWD files

You need a suitable software like Solid Edge to open a PWD file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert.
