What is an RCM file?

RCM files mostly belong to AutoCAD. RCM files are used in different industries and do not have one standard meaning.

Autodesk design package: These RCM files use a ZIP archive to hold design data from Autodesk AutoCAD and Autodesk ReCap. More details are available at the Autodesk website.

Delta PLC program: In some cases, the file stores program data for Delta PLC systems managed by ISPSoft.

PDF bank statement: Other RCM files contain a PDF bank statement. They use the PDF format and can be opened with Adobe Acrobat Reader.

How to open an RCM file

You need a suitable software like AutoCAD to open an RCM file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. To view or edit RCM files you need to know the file format, because it determines how the data in this file is stored. A file format is determined by the file extension and signature, so JPEG images have the extension .jpg and the first bytes in the file are ÿØÿ. If the file extension or signature does not match the file format, errors will occur when opening or editing the file. The files are 2 KB to 110 KB in size, with a median of 74 KB. Several words can almost always be found in the files, e.g. Version, [Company]=, [Designer]= and [Title]=.
