The format is designed for efficient storage and processing of transcription data, often used in speech recognition, natural language processing, and linguistic research. The structure is relatively simple, making it easy to parse and manipulate programmatically. Key features include its time-coded nature, allowing for precise alignment with the original media, and its support for speaker identification, enabling differentiation between multiple speakers in a recording.
