Opening an SVN File
The SVN file type is primarily associated with Subversion.
What is an SVN file?
SVN files mostly belong to Subversion. SVN files are used by the Subversion version control system to hold administrative data and metadata. These files (often found in hidden directories) contain information about file versions, commit histories, and revision details, ensuring the system keeps a correct and up‐to-date copy of the repository.
In some contexts, they are also known as SvanPC data files. However, the primary function is to serve as the internal backbone for managing a working copy in Subversion.

How to open SVN files
You need a suitable software like Subversion to open an SVN file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your SVN file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a SVN file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

- Subversion (File/Directory) by openCollabNetSubversion (SVN) is a version control system initiated in 2000 by CollabNet Inc. It is used to maintain current and historical versions of files such as source code, web pages, and documentation. Its goal is to be a mostly-compatible successor to the widely used Concurrent Versions System (CVS). Subversion .svn files may be inserted into the source code tree and there is also usually a top-level directory named .svn (just the extension, no root name). Related links: Wikipedia Subversion Page

How to solve problems with SVN files
- Associate the SVN file extension with the correct application.
- Update your software that should actually open data files. Because only the current version supports the latest SVN file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the manufacturer website after an available Subversion update.
- To make sure that your SVN file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
- Click here to open your .SVN file online - secure, fast, and no downloads needed.
