What is an XWP file?

XWP files mostly belong to XWidget. XWP files have two main functions. The primary type is a compressed widget package created by XWidget. This file is built on the ZIP format and holds assets such as images, scripts, and configuration files for a widget. You can open these files using standard archive tools or via the XWidget software (XWidget webpage).
Another use for XWP files is to store NMR spectrum layout data for XWinPlot. In this case, the file organizes settings for displaying nuclear magnetic resonance plots.

How do you open XWP files?

You need a suitable software like XWidget to open an XWP file. XWP file format:

The file format determines how the data is stored in the file. The file format can be determined based on the file extension and the signature (the first few characters of a file). File extension, signature and file format must match; otherwise errors will occur when the file is opened. XWP is not a commonly used file extension and is primarily used by a single program. The two most popular formats are as follows:

• 80% of all XWP files are based on the zip format, so several files are compressed and saved in one XWP file. 8 to 80 compressed files are common. Customary file names are \Widgets\. A little tip: If you rename the file extension to .zip and then double-click, you will see the included files and images. The file size is in the range of 110 KB to 4 MB. • 15% of all XWP files are XWinPlot layout files. These files contain text and words, not binary data. The files are 700 bytes to 1 KB in size, with a median of 1 KB. Several words can almost always be found in the files, e.g. ObjectList, PrinterSetup 0, LayoutSetup 0.2 0, #!XWinPlot 4.8, DispVersion 1.34, lp -c -s -n1, xpsview and "PostScript" "A4" 9 1.50 1.00 1.50 1.50 1 0 1 1. Such files are related to layout, carbon and proton.
