What is an AL file?

AL files mostly belong to QuickTime by Apple. AL files usually contain audio data encoded using A-Law algorithm. This algorithm is the standard used in European 8-bit PCM digital communication applications (e.g. telephones). It compresses the 16-bit Linear Pulse Code Modulated (LPCM) audio input down to 8-bit logarithmic data. This results in a 2:1 compression ratio, cutting the size of the data in half for faster transmission. QuickTime can play AL audio files. AL filename extension is also associated with source code written in AL ( formerly C/AL) programming language. AL programming language is used to manipulate data in Dynamics 365 Business Central enterprise resource planning software. You can create and edit these files using Visual Studio. How to open AL files

You need a suitable software like QuickTime to open an AL file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your AL file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a AL file directly in the browser:.
