What is a CHR file

CHR files mostly belong to Borland by Borland Software Corporation. CHR files are used as game files used in the Doki Doki Literature Club! game developed by Team Salvato.

Main Use: CHR stands for Character file. Doki Doki Literature Club! is a game that follows a visual anime style of gameplay. It can be installed on Windows, macOS, and Linux platforms. The game stores the easter egg data pertaining to certain characters within the game in the form of respective CHR files. The CHR files are stored in the Characters folder in the sub-directory of the game folder. How do you open CHR files?

You need a suitable software like Borland to open a CHR file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert.
