What is a DIAG file?

DIAG files mostly belong to Apple Console. DIAG files record diagnostic data on macOS. They capture system logs and error reports used for troubleshooting issues.
In many cases the file is a plain text report, but some use the JSON format to organize the data.
They are created by built-in utilities such as Apple’s Console and Feedback Assistant.

How do you open DIAG files?

You need a suitable software like Apple Console to open a DIAG file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. DIAG file format:

The file format determines how the data is stored in the file. A file format is determined by the file extension and signature, so JPEG images have the extension .jpg and the first bytes in the file are ÿØÿ. File extension, signature and file format must match; otherwise errors will occur when the file is opened. Knowledge is power - this also applies when dealing with unknown or faulty files. Such files sometimes refer to book, resource, wakeups, justins, luminar, chrome, google and helper.
