File Extension LOG

.LOG File

File extension: LOG
File type: Log File

Notes about the LOG file extension:

Incorrect file associations could be the result of underlying issues within your PC system. As such it is highly recommended to scan your PC for invalid registry entries, unused processes and other unfavourable system settings to identify slowdown issues.

The LOG file type is primarily associated with 'Log File'. Usually an ASCII text file. Note that if a .LOG file is in use by the system or some program you may not be allowed to open the file unless the utility you use opens the file in read-only mode. You will also likely not be allowed to move or delete the file if it is open and in use. This can affect the behavior of such utilities as disk defragmenters and backup utilities (which often try to change the archive bit in the file description). One LOG file that shows up frequently in questions is TVDEBUG.LOG. This file is associated with Zone Alarm and continuously grows over time. If you delete it, Zone Alarm will start over and create a new one so monitor its size periodically.
