Opening GPR Files
The GPR file type is primarily associated with Glossary Builder.
What is a GPR file?
- Main Usage: The data gathered by biological experiment is saved in GPR files for further analysis. The data processed during analysis is also stored in GPR files along with results of experiment conducted by GenePix Microarray Systems.
- Associations:
- The GPR file is also associated with Babylon Glossary Builder program which is used for building custom glossaries for Babylon applications. These files contain properties of glossaries, terms and their descriptions. These GPR files are used to save and load glossary projects related with this program.
- GMS, a groundwater modeling software for the Microsoft Windows, also uses GPR file extension. These GPR files are project files and store modeling project created by a user in GMS.
How to open GPR files
You need a suitable software like Glossary Builder to open a GPR file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your GPR file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a GPR file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

Programs that open and convert GPR files:
- Glossary Builder by Babylon
See the previous paragraphs to learn more about the main application. GPR files are often referred to as Glossary Builder data files because this type of file is primarily created or used by this software.
- GenePix (results file) by Molecular Devices CorporationGenePix is an image analysis software for microarrays, tissue arrays, and cell arrays. It is primarily used to capture fluorescent spots on microarrays experiments. The GPR files contain GenePix results data which are stored within the Axon Text File (ATF) format. A results file contains general information about the image acquisition and analysis. This file format is classified as Data. Related links: Download page
- GMS (project file) by AquaveoGMS is a groundwater modeling software created by Aquaveo, which provides sufficient tools for each phase of groundwater simulation such as model development, calibration, and visualization. The GMS program is only available on Windows operating systems. The GPR files contain the created project files. This file format is classified as Data. Related links: GMS Wikipedia

GPR format details:
The file format determines how the data is stored in the file. A file format is determined by the file extension and signature, so JPEG images have the extension .jpg and the first bytes in the file are ÿØÿ. If the file extension does not match the file format, double-clicking on the file will cause an error upon opening. When there is a problem with a file, the first step to solving it is to determine the file format. Our evaluation of the GPR files looks like this:
The GPR file extension is rather rarely used and includes different formats for the applicable programs. However, the following two file formats are common:
- 60% of all GPR files are associated with GoPro Raw bitmap files, which internally utilize the well-known TIFF format. TIFF is short for Tagged Image File Format. It stores raster graphics images that support color depths from 1 to 24-bit, lossy and lossless compression and multiple layers and pages. If you open these files in a text editor, you will see only illegible characters. The average file size is 5 MB with most files being between 2 MB and 7 MB in size. The file type is relatively new. Files like these are about gopr.
- 8% of all GPR files start with the bytes B7 73 9B 13 9C 77 20 A3 43 AE 0D 03 59 FB 95 6A crucial for this file format. If you open these files in a text editor, you will see only illegible characters. The files are on average 960 KB in size and range from 79 KB to 970 KB. The files contain the following words: Rc;B.
All other GPR files (32%) have different formats, frequently e.g. GenePix Results. If you want to find out which format your GPR file belongs to, just click on the button "Choose your .gpr file to analyze".
Technical Data for GPR File Extension
The following listing is compiled from the database produced by the 'Associate This!' program, selected data from the main FILExt database and file extension information submitted by users.
EXEFile: %ProgramFiles%\MSXML 4.0/nvidia.\Bin\GIShell.exe
a gpr project file is a special file format by Babylon and should only be edited and saved with the appropriate software.
How to solve problems with GPR files
- Associate the GPR file extension with the correct application.
- Update your software that should actually open project files. Because only the current version supports the latest GPR file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the Babylon manufacturer website after an available Glossary Builder update.
- To make sure that your GPR file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
- Click here to open your .GPR file online - secure, fast, and no downloads needed.
