What is a HIP file

HIP files mostly belong to Houdini by SideFX. HIP file extension is mainly associated with 3D scenes created using Houdini, a cross-platform 3D animator and modeler. Contents of the HIP scene file include embedded images, points, surfaces, project assets, lines, and 3D objects. Spy CD, an obsolete software used to search for files on computers, used HIP file extension to store its search database. The HIP file extension is also associated with the Hippel audio format used by some games in the discontinued Amiga and Atari ST computers. Atari 8-bit computers also associated HIP extension with bitmap images that used Atari HARD Interlacing Picture Format. Such HIP files were used to store 160x200 pixel images with 30-level grayscale.

How can I open a HIP file?

You need a suitable software like Houdini to open a HIP file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert.
