What is a JIF file?
How to open JIF files
You need a suitable software like XnView to open a JIF file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your JIF file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a JIF file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

JIF file format:
To find out what program is needed to open JIF files, you need to determine the file format. The file format can be deduced from the file extension and the signature. However, different programs can use the same file extension, and file extensions can be assigned incorrectly. Exact knowledge of the format is therefore important in order to solve problems occurring in files. Our evaluation of the JIF files is as follows:
The JIF file extension is rather rarely used and predominantly uses a uniform format. The two most popular formats are as follows:
- 85% of all JIF files are using the well-known JFIF file format to store the data. JFIF is short for JPEG File Interchange Format. It is a bitmap graphic that uses JPEG compression. The contents of these files cannot be read by a human; only a computer program can interpret the data. The files are on average 120 KB in size and range from 21 KB to 420 KB. The file type was developed 20 years ago and is still in use today. The following keywords are characteristic: JFIF. Files like these are sometimes connected to thumb, thumbnail, download and arzas.
- 1% of all JIF files belong to Jeff's Image Format bitmap. If you open these files in a text editor, you will see only illegible characters. The file size is in the range of 21 KB to 22 KB.
All other JIF files (14%) have different formats. They are often associated with image. Drag & drop your file here to see the file format and a preview of your JIF file!
