What is a KSS file?

KSS files mostly belong to Tekla Structures. KSS files serve two distinct functions. The primary use is as a steel fabrication data file in Tekla Structures. This format, sometimes referenced as the KISS steel detailing file format, holds detailed design and assembly information used in construction projects.

Konami Sound Variant: A less common use where the file is employed as a sound file for the Konami Sound Cartridge Synthesizer in MSX systems. This version is handled by dedicated sound drivers or emulators like OpenMSX.

How to open a KSS file

You need a suitable software like Tekla Structures to open a KSS file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your KSS file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a KSS file directly in the browser:.
