Opening an LCP File
The LCP file type is primarily associated with Lancer Foundry.
What is an LCP file?
How to open LCP files
You need a suitable software like Lancer Foundry to open an LCP file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your LCP file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a LCP file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

Programs that open and convert LCP files:
- Lancer Foundry
See the previous paragraphs to learn more about the main application. LCP files are often referred to as Lancer Foundry games because this type of file is primarily created or used by this software.
- FlamMap (landscape data file) by Fire, Fuel, and Smoke Science ProgramThe LCP file extension is multi-band raster file format that saves landscape data for fire analysis software such as FlamMap and FARSITE. FlamMap and FARSITE allow the analysis of fire behavior and simulate potential growth. The data bands in an LCP file store information about the terrain, tree canopy, and surface fuel. Optional crown fuel bands are also a part of the structure. These include canopy height, canopy base height, and canopy bulk density. The LCP format was created by LANDFIRE. LANDFIRE is a shared program between the wildland fire management programs of the U.S. Department of Agriculture Forest Service and U.S. Department of the Interior.
LCP format details:
To view or edit LCP files you need to know the file format, because it determines how the data in this file is stored. The file format can be deduced from the file extension and the signature. Nonetheless, different programs can utilize the same file extension to represent distinct file formats. Double-clicking on the file often results in an error when opening. So you need a detailed analysis of a file to find out the format and the associated program. Our evaluation of the LCP files is as follows:
The LCP extension is quite commonly used. The file itself is used by different programs with different formats. But the following two file formats are common:
- 60% of all LCP files use ZIP compression, multiple files are compressed and combined into one LCP file. Primarily 4 to 7 files are included. File names inside are frames.json, lcp_manifest.json, npc_classes.json, npc_features.json, npc_templates.json, systems.json, talents.json and weapons.json. If you'd like to see the images and files included, just rename the file extension to .zip and double-click. The files are 17 KB to 54 KB in size, with a median of 34 KB. Certain words are almost always found in the files, such as lcp_manifest.jsonUT, BC5S, JaQX, MPKO and jXj47. Examples of file names are Lancer CORE NPCs-1.0.4.lcp or Lancer_CORE_NPCs-1.0.4.lcp. Such files sometimes refer to lancer, npcs, core, data, wallflower, long, field and guide.
- 20% of all LCP files save the data in XML file format. The Extensible Markup Language (XML) is a simple text-based format for representing structured information: documents, webpages, data, configuration, books, transactions, invoices, and much more. XML defines a set of rules for encoding documents in a format that is both human-readable and machine-readable. These files are plain text, which means they can be viewed with any text editor such as Windows Editor, Nano for Linux, and TextEdit for macOS. The average file size is 26 KB with most files being between 1 KB and 420 KB in size. The keywords <rdf:RDF xmlns:rdf="http://www.w3.org/1999/02/22-rdf-syntax-ns#">, <x:xmpmeta xmlns:x="adobe:ns:meta/", Adobe XMP Core 5, xmptk and <rdf:Description rdf are typical for these files. Such files are related to phone, apple, canon, camera, nikon, sigma and sony.
All other LCP files (20%) have no uniform format, the following 5 formats can be found: PRJF. These files sometimes refer to lens, corporation, compcon, moment, macro, tamron or back. If you want to find out what your LCP file contains, drag and drop it onto this page.
Technical Data for LCP File Extension
The following listing is compiled from the database produced by the 'Associate This!' program, selected data from the main FILExt database and file extension information submitted by users.

an lcp data file is a special file format and should only be edited and saved with the appropriate software.
How to solve problems with LCP files
- Associate the LCP file extension with the correct application.
- Update your software that should actually open data files. Because only the current version supports the latest LCP file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the manufacturer website after an available Lancer Foundry update.
- To make sure that your LCP file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
- Click here to open your .LCP file online - secure, fast, and no downloads needed.
