What is an MCP file?

MCP files mostly belong to MPLab IDE by Microchip. MCP file extension is associated with the project files created using the CodeWarrior IDE owned by Freescale Semiconductor.

  • Main Use: CodeWarrior is an integrated development environment (IDE) compatible with macOS, Microsoft Windows, Linux, and Solaris operating systems and is made up of C, C++, Objective C, Pascal, Object Pascal, and Java compilers. CodeWarrior uses MCP to store development project-related data. These MCP files also contain references to the source code of the concerned project along with the related resource files and project-specific settings.
  • Other Uses: MCP file extension is also associated with the Spanish online TV streaming software, Megacubo. Megacubo uses MCP files to store IPTV (Internet Protocol television) channel data files. A single MCP file can consist of several MEGA files. Each MEGA file is linked to a distinct media channel that can be broadcast onto a computer. MCP files can be officially downloaded from the official Megacubo website. After installing the Megacubo software on a compatible Windows PC, the downloaded MCP files can be double-clicked to complete the installation of the MCP files. MCP files are also used by the object-oriented system, Amiga MUI (Magic User Interface) in the creation and maintenance of GUIs (Graphical User Interfaces). These MCP files save preference class or library information related to the Amiga MUI.

How can I open an MCP file?

You need a suitable software like MPLab IDE to open an MCP file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your MCP file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a MCP file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

MCP file format:

If you know the file format, you can also find out how to open or edit the file. A file format is determined by the file extension and signature, so JPEG images have the extension .jpg and the first bytes in the file are ÿØÿ. However, different programs can use the same file extension. Furthermore, a file extension can be renamed incorrectly and double-clicking on it will then display an error when it is opened. If there are problems opening a file, you must first determine the file format used. Below is our analysis of the MCP files:

MCP is not a commonly used file extension and includes many different file formats. But the following two file formats are common:

All other MCP files (70%) have different formats, often e.g. CodeWarrior Project, JetDB, DOC and GLWZB. These files sometimes refer to travelodge, cell or scada. Drag & drop your file here to see the file format and a preview of your MCP file!

How to solve problems with MCP files

  • Associate the MCP file extension with the correct application.
  • Update your software that should actually open project files. Because only the current version supports the latest MCP file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the Microchip manufacturer website after an available MPLab IDE update.
  • To make sure that your MCP file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
  • Click here to open your .MCP file online - secure, fast, and no downloads needed.
