What is an OTG file?

OTG files mostly belong to LibreOffice Draw. OTG files are OpenDocument Graphics Template files. They use a ZIP archive that contains XML data to hold a drawing template used in LibreOffice Draw.

Purpose: They store preset design elements and layout instructions for vector drawings.

Functionality: Inside the ZIP, XML files define styles, shapes, and other layout details.

Usage: These templates give you a starting point when creating new graphics projects.

How to open OTG files

You need a suitable software like LibreOffice Draw to open an OTG file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. How to convert an OTG file to PDF, HTML, DOCX, JPG, ...

The 16 to 21 compressed files are called content.xml, meta.xml, mimetype, settings.xml, styles.xml, \Configurations2\, \Configurations2\accelerator\, \Configurations2\floater\, \Configurations2\images\, \Configurations2\images\Bitmaps\, \Configurations2\menubar\, \Configurations2\popupmenu\, \Configurations2\progressbar\, \Configurations2\statusbar\, \Configurations2\toolbar\, \Configurations2\toolpanel\ and \META-INF\manifest.xml. A little tip: If you rename the file extension to .zip and then double-click, you will see the included files and images. The files are on average 180 KB in size and range from 16 KB to 1 MB. The files contain the following words: mimetypeapplication/vnd.oasis.opendocument.graphics-templatePK and Configurations2/popupmenu/PK. Such files sometimes refer to template and card.
