What is an RVG file?
How to open an RVG file
You need a suitable software like CS Imaging to open an RVG file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your RVG file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a RVG file directly in the browser:. If you know the file format, you can also find out how to open or edit the file. Each file format has a unique extension and almost always a unique signature. For example, Microsoft Word documents have the extension .docx and the signature (usually the first 3 characters in this file) PK. If the file extension does not match the file format, double-clicking on the file will cause an error upon opening. Knowledge is power - this also applies when dealing with unknown or faulty files. In the following you will find our evaluation of the RVG files:
The RVG extension is very commonly found and predominantly uses a uniform format. The two most popular formats are as follows:
- 96% of all RVG files are associated with Kodak RVG dicom format files, which internally utilize the well-known DICOM format. DICOM is short for Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine. DICOM files are used to store, exchange, and transmit medical images from radiography, ultrasonography, computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and radiation therapy, but also personal data about the patient. The contents of these files cannot be read by a human; only a computer program can interpret the data. The files are often between 1.3 MB and 1.9 MB in size. The file type was developed only in the last few years. The following keywords are characteristic: DICM and 1.2.840.10008.5.1.4.1.1.1.3.1. The file name R1.rvg or R2.rvg is characteristic of these files. These files are attributed to niekerk, ratoire and beer.
- 1% of all RVG files use the same file format, which can be identified by the letters "rvector1" at the beginning. If you open these files in a text editor, you can view the contents and find segments of text. The files are often between 15 bytes and 1 KB in size. The files contain the following words: rvector1.
All other RVG files (3%) have different formats. If you want to find out which format your RVG file belongs to, just click on the button "Choose your .rvg file to analyze".
