If you know the file format, you can also find out how to open or edit the file. The file format can be deduced from the file extension and the signature. If the file extension does not match the file format, double-clicking on the file will cause an error upon opening. Exact knowledge of the format is therefore important in order to solve problems occurring in files. Below you will find our evaluation of the SCC files:
The SCC extension is very commonly found and covers different formats for different programs. The file formats most commonly found in SCC files are:
- 40% of all SCC files are associated with Scenarist Closed Caption data. These files are text files, so they contain words and text. A typical file size is 84 KB. The file type was developed only in the last few years. Several words can almost always be found in the files, e.g. Scenarist_SCC V1.0, 9420 9420 and 942c 942c. These files are often associated with captions, caption, english, feature, closed, master, video, country and music.
- 15% of all SCC files are associated with Visual SourceSafe control. They consist of unreadable binary data. The files are on average 120 bytes in size and range from 48 bytes to 810 bytes. An example of a file name is vssver.scc or VSSVER2.SCC.
All other SCC files (45%) have no consistent format, such as Visual SourceSafe control, ZIP, certificate and bccs. Often described as recording, client, auth, album, scrapbook or tinny. If you want to find out what your SCC file contains, drag and drop it onto this page.
