What is a SEM file?
SEM files mostly belong to Visual Studio by Microsoft. A SEM file contains set objects used by Alpha Anywhere (previously Alpha Five) database-driven application development environment. The file contains data such as report/form designs and layouts saved in Dictionary Memo format. A SEM file is saved in the same folder as the SET and SEX files which together with the SEM file make up the set data dictionary of two or more linked tables. Another type of SEM file is a SynthEdit module created by older versions of Visual Studio integrated development environment. Newer versions of Visual Studio save such modules in VCXPROJ files.
