Opening SL Files
The SL file type is primarily associated with Live2D.
What is an SL file?
For example, some programs use SL files as Scenario Language files. These files hold scripts or instructions used in animated projects from companies such as Live2D and Poser.
Other applications store data in SL files. In one case the file is a container (often compressed like a ZIP archive) that holds website lists for SEO tools like GSA Search Engine Ranker. In another, a file may hold compiled license or configuration data for platforms like Second Life and tools from Intersect Alliance.
Some versions of SL files also serve as compressed audio or game data files. For instance, Japanese video game data tied to the Sega Model 2 Emulator have used this extension.

How to open an SL file
You need a suitable software like Live2D to open an SL file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your SL file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a SL file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

SL file format:
The file format determines how the data is stored in the file. The initial characters of a file are called signature, sometimes also referred to as "magic bytes". The signature can be used to infer the file format. Frequently, however, one file extension is used by different programs for different file formats, and one file format for different file extensions. Exact knowledge of the format is therefore important in order to solve problems occurring in files. Our evaluation of the SL files looks like this:
The SL file extension is not found very often and is used by different programs with different formats. The following file formats are most commonly found in SL files:
- 30% of all SL files start with the bytes C3 B5, which are crucial for this file format. They consist of illegible, cryptic characters. The files are on average 490 bytes in size and range from 90 bytes to 2 KB. It is a modern file type. An example of a file name is 001.sl or 000.sl.
- 20% of all SL files internally use the ZIP format, that is, an SL file includes multiple compressed files. The 30 to 220 compressed files are called sitelist_Article-Article Script.txt and sitelist_Article-BuddyPress.txt. Tip: If you rename the file ending to .zip and then double-click it, you see the included files and images. The files are 520 bytes to 31 MB in size, with a median of 2 MB. The keywords sitelist_Article-AltoCMS-LiveStreet.txt are typical for these files. The file name all.sl or VerifiedTargets.sl is typical for these files. Such files are related to lists and list, and often consist of personal data.
All other SL files (50%) have different formats. These files sometimes refer to scenario or tutorial. You can get all the details of your SL file by dragging it onto this page or by clicking the button "Choose your .sl file to analyze" above.

How to solve problems with SL files
- Associate the SL file extension with the correct application.
- Update your software that should actually open data files. Because only the current version supports the latest SL file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the manufacturer website after an available Live2D update.
- To make sure that your SL file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
- Click here to open your .SL file online - secure, fast, and no downloads needed.
