Opening an STD File
The STD file type is primarily associated with Draw.
What is an STD file?
How to open STD files
You need a suitable software like Draw to open an STD file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your STD file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a STD file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

STD file extension format:
The file format, which is the arrangement and type of data in a file, determines which program can open the file. The initial characters of a file are called signature, sometimes also referred to as "magic bytes". The signature can be used to infer the file format. Frequently, however, one file extension is used by different programs for different file formats, and one file format for different file extensions. Exact knowledge of the format is therefore important in order to solve problems occurring in files. Our evaluation of the STD files looks like this:
STD is a very common file type and is used by a few programs, each with its own file format. The following file formats are most commonly found in STD files:
- 65% of all STD files are STAAD.Pro project data files. These files are text files and can therefore be read using a text editor. The files are often between 1 KB and 83 KB in size. It is a modern file type. The files contain the following words: START JOB INFORMATION, ENGINEER DATE, END JOB INFORMATION, INPUT WIDTH 79, STAAD SPACE, JOINT COORDINATES, UNIT METER KN and 1 0 0 0. Such files are related to structure, staad, building, shed, frame, bridge, design and model.
- 9% of all STD files have the same signature 02 00 00 0A 02 04. These are binary files, so they do not contain words or text. Most of these files are 2 KB to 15 MB in size. Such files are related to stdf, datalog, nextest, unknown, eagle, power and loop.
All the rest of the STD files (26%) have different formats, frequently e.g. 3M Printscape document, PROMT document, ZIP, Drv and Standardization. These files are often connected to label, steel, platform, project, beam or roof. Just click the "Choose your .std file to view" button on this page to find out what your STD file is.

an std drawing template is a special file format by Apache and should only be edited and saved with the appropriate software.
How to solve problems with STD files
- Associate the STD file extension with the correct application.
- Update your software that should actually open drawing templates. Because only the current version supports the latest STD file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the Apache manufacturer website after an available Draw update.
- To make sure that your STD file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
- Click here to open your .STD file online - secure, fast, and no downloads needed.
