Opening an SVC File
The SVC file type is primarily associated with .NET.
What is an SVC file?
<% @ServiceHost Service="MyNamespace.MyServiceImplementationTypeName" %>
Visual Studio integrated development environment can be used to create and deploy an SVC service file to an IIS web server.
How to open an SVC file
You need a suitable software like .NET to open an SVC file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your SVC file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a SVC file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

Programs that open and convert SVC files:
- .NET by Microsoft
See the previous paragraphs to learn more about the main application. SVC files are often referred to as .NET web (source)s because this type of file is primarily created or used by this software.
- IIS (web service) by MicrosoftIIS is a web application hosting software compatible with Windows operating system. It can host and process an SVC file containing a Windows Communication Foundation service library. This file format is classified as Web (source). - Simple Visual Compiler (project) by Simple Visual CompilerSimple Visual Compiler is a program development and compilation environment. It saves a programming project in an SVC file. This program is obsolete. This file format is classified as Developer.
- Statistica (macro) by TIBCOStatistica is a data analytics and visualization software suite. It saves a macro in an SVC file used to automate some operations. This file format is classified as Developer.

SVC format details:
The file format, which is the arrangement and type of data in a file, determines which program can open the file. The file format can be determined based on the file extension and the signature (the first few characters of a file). If the file extension or signature does not match the file format, errors will occur when opening or editing the file. When there is a problem with a file, the first step to solving it is to determine the file format. In the following you will find our evaluation of the SVC files:
The SVC file extension is not widely used. Such a file includes different formats for the applicable programs. The two most common formats are as follows:
- 25% of all SVC files store the data in the Source file format. A source code is the set of instructions written by a programmer using a computer programming language like JavaScript, C++ or Basic. This code is translated into machine language by a compiler. The translated result is called app, program or executable. These files are text files and can therefore be read using a text editor. SVC files can be up to 500 bytes in size, but are often around 100 bytes - 160 bytes. The file type was developed only in the last few years. Several words can almost always be found in the files, e.g. Debug, true, ServiceHost Language="C#" and CodeBehind. An example of a file name is Service1.svc.
- 7% of all SVC files start with the bytes 15534 11888 32154 727745086 1 1370 470 7 11888 32156, which are crucial for this file format. These files are text files and can therefore be read using a text editor. A typical file size is 580 KB. Several words can almost always be found in the files, e.g. 11888 32154 727745086 1 1370 470 7. An example of a file name is u00006s00001_hw00001.svc.
All other SVC files (68%) have no uniform format, the following 9 formats can be found: XML, PDF, HTML and EXE. These files sometimes refer to services, document, invoice, managment, download or data. Just click the "Choose your .svc file to view" button on this page to find out what your SVC file is.

an svc web service is a special file format by Microsoft and should only be edited and saved with the appropriate software.
How to solve problems with SVC files
- Associate the SVC file extension with the correct application.
- Update your software that should actually open web services. Because only the current version supports the latest SVC file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the Microsoft manufacturer website after an available .NET update.
- To make sure that your SVC file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
- Click here to open your .SVC file online - secure, fast, and no downloads needed.
