What is an SVC file?

SVC files mostly belong to .NET by Microsoft. An SVC file is a Windows Communication Foundation (WCF) service library or a Syndication client service library of a service-oriented application. Windows Communication Foundation (previously Indigo) is an open source, .NET-based runtime and APIs for building service-oriented applications. Each SVC file in a WCF application contains a directive which spins up a response to an incoming message from a client. Such a directive may look as follows:

How to open an SVC file

You need a suitable software like .NET to open an SVC file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your SVC file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a SVC file directly in the browser:.
