What is a VNA file

VNA files mostly belong to Anritsu VNA Master. Your VNA file may come from several different applications. It might be a file that stores measurement data from a Vector Network Analyzer, or it could be used in game development, audio storage, network analysis, MATLAB data, or even as a project file in security management.

Anritsu Measurement Data File: These files save RF measurement results such as amplitude and phase. They are produced by vector network analyzers and are best viewed with vendor software like VNA Master or Anritsu Vector Star.

How do you open VNA files?

You need a suitable software like Anritsu VNA Master to open a VNA file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. Why is it important to know the file format? This is the only way to find out which program to use to open the file. Often, the file format can be deduced from the file extension or the initial bytes (called the signature). File extension, signature and file format must match; otherwise errors will occur when the file is opened. If there are problems opening a file, you must first determine the file format used. • 35% of all VNA files start with the bytes 3C 41 crucial for this file format. The contents of these files are partially readable by a human. Most of these files are 26 KB to 48 KB in size. The keywords <ANRITSU>, DESCR, DATE, TYPE=DATA, UNIT_NAME=, FILE_MODE, MODEL, card0, APP_VER, APP_NAME=VNA, BASE_VER and SETUP_FILE_FORMAT_VERSION are typical for these files. Such VNA files store data about rdhantena, sektor and vswr.
• 25% of all VNA files use the same file format, which can be identified by the letters "03 00 03 00 4E 41 00 00" at the beginning. They consist of unreadable binary data. The files are on average 2 KB in size and range from 220 bytes to 26 KB. The file name VersionInfo.vna or CHARLIMITINFO_ENG.vna is characteristic of these files. Files like these have the following tags: info, charlimitinfo, limit, system and gate.
