What is a VRO file?

VRO files mostly belong to PowerDVD by CyberLink. VRO is a multimedia container format for storing multiplexed audiovisual content recorded with DVD-R, DVD-RW, or DVD-RAM devices. A VRO file contains multiple audio/video streams and metadata. The video is an MPEG program stream while the audio content of the file is encoded as Dolby Digital (AC-3), Linear PCM, or MPEG audio. VRO and VOB formats are similar, however, VRO is capable of storing mixed format presentations in a single container. Details like the aspect ratio of VRO recordings are coded as part of the video streams so the recording may contain multiple videos with different aspect ratios. VRO format is used to record video and audio streams onto DVD discs in real-time. Video and audio recordings on the disc are saved to the VR_MOVIE.VRO file within the /DVD_RTAV folder. Stat Crew, a sports data collection, statistics, and reporting software saves rosters in VRO files.

How to open VRO files

You need a suitable software like PowerDVD to open a VRO file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your VRO file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a VRO file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

If the file extension or signature does not match the file format, errors will occur when opening or editing the file. Exact knowledge of the format is therefore important in order to solve problems occurring in files. Below you will find our evaluation of the VRO files:

How to solve problems with VRO files

  • Associate the VRO file extension with the correct application.

  • To make sure that your VRO file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
  • Click here to open your .VRO file online - secure, fast, and no downloads needed.
