However, different programs can use the same file extension. Furthermore, a file extension can be renamed incorrectly and double-clicking on it will then display an error when it is opened. The VOB extension is very commonly found and predominantly uses a uniform format. But the following two file formats are common:
- 95% of all VOB files belong to VOB video files. The contents of these files cannot be read by a human; only a computer program can interpret the data. The average file size is 530 MB with most files being between 79 KB and 1 GB in size. The file type was used 20 years ago. Some examples of file names are VTS_01_1.VOB or VIDEO_TS.VOB. These files are attributed to video.
- 1% of all VOB files use the same file format, which have the signature SREOBJ. They consist of unreadable binary data. A typical file size is 930 KB. The keywords SREOBJ, C1_Gmr F, C1_RT_M, K_plast, g_windf, l_brk, name_R and sheild are typical for these files. The file name XR.vob is typical for these files.
