What is a VOB file?

VOB files mostly belong to Media Player by Microsoft. VOB is the filename extension of the Video Object container format used to store multiplexed video, audio, menus, text, and metadata in DVDs. The video streams in VOB files are H.262/MPEG-2 Part 2-econded, whereas the audio streams may be AC-3, Linear PCM, MPEG-2 multichannel or MPEG-1 Layer II 2 channel audio. DVD camcorders typically store captured videos (and audio) in VOB files.
