What is an XPR file?

XPR files mostly belong to Oxygen XML Editor by SyncRO. XPR filename extension is mainly associated with "Family Table" instance accelerator files used by Creo 3D computer-aided product design software. An instance accelerator contains an instance of a part (PRT) in the family table of a product. Creo uses instance accelerators to improve load/render time of each part. Besides, Creo, CAD programs like SolidWorks and Acrobat can also open these files. XPR is also the filename extension of project files created by Vivado Design Suite. Projects created with Oxygen XML Editor are stored in XPR files which contain references to all XML documents, settings, and version control data for a project. Kodi open source multimedia player saves skins that are used to customize its appearance in XPR files. Each skin comprises images (PNG, GIF, JPG) and settings compressed into a single archive. User-defined expressions used by the debugger in CodeWarrior integrated development environment are also saved in XPR files.

How to open an XPR file

You need a suitable software like Oxygen XML Editor to open an XPR file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your XPR file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a XPR file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

XPR file extension format:

If you can determine the file format, the associated program can also be determined. The initial characters of a file are called signature, sometimes also referred to as "magic bytes". The signature can be used to infer the file format. If the file extension does not match the file format, double-clicking on the file will cause an error upon opening. If there are problems opening a file, you must first determine the file format used. Our examination of the XPR files comes to the following conclusion:

XPR is seldom used as a file extension and is used by different programs with different formats. The file formats most commonly found in XPR files are:

All other XPR files (50%) have different formats, such as Creature House Expression3 drawing and UGC. Often described as cortpsc, current, profile, bueib, xenos or musc. If you want to find out what your XPR file contains, drag and drop it onto this page.

How to solve problems with XPR files

  • Associate the XPR file extension with the correct application.
  • Update your software that should actually open projects. Because only the current version supports the latest XPR file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the SyncRO manufacturer website after an available Oxygen XML Editor update.
  • To make sure that your XPR file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
