What is a ZXP file?

ZXP files mostly belong to Extension Manager by Adobe. A ZXP file is an extension downloaded and installed through the Extension Manager developed by Adobe. Such an extension adds functionality to Adobe products such as Animate, Photoshop, After Effects, Prelude, and InDesign. Adobe introduced ZXP extension format in the CC editions of the above listed programs as a replacement for MXP extensions used in previous versions. Extension Manager runs alongside Creative Cloud to install and manage ZXP extensions while Adobe programs are in use.

How to open ZXP files

You need a suitable software like Extension Manager to open a ZXP file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your ZXP file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a ZXP file directly in the browser:.
