What is an AC file?

AC files mostly belong to Autoconf by Free Software Foundation. An AC file is a script containing source code that Autoconf and Automake use to automatically configure software packages and manage dependencies of an application project. Such scripts can be executed with M4 macro processor. Another type of AC file is a 3D model/geometry definition used by AC3D game development and computer-aided design software. AC is also the filename extension of a data file used by Working Papers accounting/auditing software. A database containing genealogy (family tree) information (names, birthdays etc.) created by Ancestral Quest is saved in a different type of AC file.

How to open an AC file

You need a suitable software like Autoconf to open an AC file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert.
