What is an ASN1 file?

ASN1 files mostly belong to asn1c. ASN.1 files use the Abstract Syntax Notation One standard to encode structured data.

How to open ASN1 files

You need a suitable software like asn1c to open an ASN1 file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. Each file has a definite file format, that is, how the stored data is arranged in the file. The files are 2 KB to 5 KB in size, with a median of 4 KB. The file type was created recently. Such files sometimes refer to contrato, network, cincel and constancia, and often contain personal information.
4% of all ASN1 files start with the bytes Seq-entry ::= se, which are crucial for this file format. The contents of these files can even be read by a human. ASN1 files are between 6 KB and 16 MB in size. Several words can almost always be found in the files, e.g. descr {, Seq-entry ::= set { and class. Some examples of file names are sequence.asn1.
