What is an AVC file?

AVC files mostly belong to Media Composer by Avid. AVC, short for Advanced Video Coding is a video file format widely used for video recording, compression, and distribution. An AVC file typically contains video, audio, text, and metadata wrapped in an MTS or M2TS container. The AVC video format uses H.264/MPEG-4 AVC compression and it is based on the ISO/IEC base media file format used by most media formats in the MP3, MP4, and 3GP family. AVC file extension is also used to store video scripts created using Media Composer, a video authoring software. An AVC transcript contains text data and information used to synchronize the narrative in the script with segments of a video file. How to open AVC files

• 35% of all AVC files use the same file format, which have the signature VA. The content consists of illegible binary data, which can only be read and interpreted by the associated programs.
