- OpenEdge (recovery data file) by ProgressOpenEdge is a Relational Database Management System (RDBMS) from Progress. The system is built on the Progress database. Several other Progress products also make use of this database (ex: DataDirect). In addition to Progress products, the Progress database is also at the back end of several third-party applications. B1 is a primary recovery (before image) file associated with the Progress database. B1 keeps a record of all transactions so that the database can be rolled back in case of a hardware problem. There may be multiple files with Bn extensions (n being a sequential number). Files with similarly-named extensions (DB, D1, D2,...) have a different format to B1. They are files that store the data in the Progress database. This file format is classified as Data. Related links: Progess Database Guide, Progress Software on Wikipedia
