BPM file format:
To find out what program is needed to open BPM files, you need to determine the file format. Each file format has a unique extension and almost always a unique signature. For example, Microsoft Word documents have the extension .docx and the signature (usually the first 3 characters in this file) PK. Nonetheless, different programs can utilize the same file extension to represent distinct file formats. Double-clicking on the file often results in an error when opening. So a detailed analysis of a file is vital in order to determine the format and the associated program. In the following you will find our evaluation of the BPM files:
The BPM extension is very commonly found and mainly uses a special format. However, the following two file formats are common:
- 90% of all BPM files use the ZIP algorithm, so several files are compressed and saved in one BPM file. Primarily 11 to 26 files are included. File names inside are ModelInfo.xml, Participants.xml, Preferences.bpp and \Users\. You can see the included files and images by renaming the file extension to .zip and then double-clicking it. Most of these files are 11 KB to 120 KB in size. Several words can almost always be found in the files, e.g. diag. Files like these are about process, fluxo, flow, flujo, processo, proceso, model and modelo.
- 3% of all BPM files use the popular XML file format. The Extensible Markup Language (XML) is a simple text-based format for representing structured information: documents, webpages, data, configuration, books, transactions, invoices, and much more. XML defines a set of rules for encoding documents in a format that is both human-readable and machine-readable. These files contain text and words, not binary data. Most of these files are 21 KB to 260 KB in size. The files contain the following words: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>, Name, <?PowerDesigner AppLocale="UTF16", Label, Objects and LastModificationDate. These files are attributed to bpmn and business.
All the rest of the BPM files (7%) have different formats, the following 6 formats can be found: SQL, JSON and asset. Often described as export, fluxograma, solution, management, editorial or assets. You can get all the details of your BPM file by dragging it onto this page or by clicking the button "Choose your .bpm file to analyze" above.

- To make sure that your BPM file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
- Click here to open your .BPM file online - secure, fast, and no downloads needed.
