What is a CA1 file

CA1 files mostly belong to Chief Architect. CA1 files come in two main forms:
Chief Architect Files:
These files are used by Chief Architect software to store building design data. They contain layout information, structural details, and embedded metadata to manage design revisions. CALS Raster Images:
Some CA1 files use the CALS Type 1 format to store technical raster graphics. They may hold scanned drawings or engineering images and require image software that supports the CALS standard.

• Identify the file source to select the proper software.
• Use Chief Architect for design files.
• If it is a CALS image, employ a compatible image editor or conversion tool.
• Always create a backup before converting or editing.

How to open CA1 files

You need a suitable software like Chief Architect to open a CA1 file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your CA1 file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a CA1 file directly in the browser:. CA1 file format:

Each file has a definite file format, that is, how the stored data is arranged in the file. The file format can be deduced from the file extension and the signature. File extension, signature and file format must match; otherwise errors will occur when the file is opened. If there are problems opening a file, you must first determine the file format used. Our evaluation of the CA1 files is as follows:

The CA1 file extension is rarely used and includes various formats for various programs. But the following two file formats are common:

• 40% of all CA1 files start with the bytes AC 01 56 00 crucial for this file format. The content consists of illegible binary data, which can only be read and interpreted by the associated programs. The files are often between 2 KB and 6 KB in size. The file type is old but is used even today. These files can be linked to building.
• 20% of all CA1 files use the same file format, which can be identified by the letters "srcdocid: " at the beginning. They consist of illegible, cryptic characters. The files are 33 KB to 230 KB in size, with a median of 130 KB. The keywords dstdocid, Transparent, 6634, V4.01, CALS TYP 1, SMA 6634, SMA Schaut GmbH, Schaut GmbH and srcdocid: MF1; are typical for these files.
