PLAN file format details:
Every file has a defined file format, i.e. how the data is arranged in the file. Often, the file format can be deduced from the file extension or the initial bytes (called the signature). Frequently, however, one file extension is used by different programs for different file formats, and one file format for different file extensions. If there are problems opening a file, you must first determine the file format used. Below you will find our evaluation of the PLAN files:
The PLAN extension is very commonly used. This PLAN file itself is among the most popular common file types and covers different formats for different programs. The two most popular formats are as follows:
- 55% of all PLAN files are using the well-known JSON file format to store the data. JSON (JavaScript Object Notation) is a lightweight data−interchange format. It is easy for humans to read and write. It is easy for machines to parse and generate. These files are plain text, which means they can be viewed with any text editor such as Windows Editor, Nano for Linux, and TextEdit for macOS. PLAN files are between 16 KB and 130 KB in size. The file type is a fairly new file format. The following keywords are characteristic: walls, s_outer, pos_s, s_inner, null, e_outer, e_bak, s_bak and e_inner. Files like these are about remplanner.
- 40% of all PLAN files are Chief Architect plan files. The contents of these files cannot be read by a human; only a computer program can interpret the data. PLAN files can be up to 150 MB in size, but are often around 1 MB - 21 MB. The keywords IHDR, pHYs and IDATx are typical for these files. Files like these have the following tags: house, floor, kitchen, bath, residence, existing and auto, and often consist of personal data.
The remaining 5% of all PLAN files are files with no common format, often, for example, ZIP and PMAW. They are often associated with basement, save, proposed, design, layout or master. Just click the "Choose your .plan file to view" button on this page to find out what your PLAN file is.
