All about CMA Files
The CMA file type is primarily associated with Comprehensive Meta-Analysis.
What is a CMA file?
For example, one common use is as a Comprehensive Meta-Analysis data file that stores statistical information used in meta-analysis studies. You may find more details on its use at this webpage.
Other applications include:
- Data Governance Export: These files can be archives (often using a ZIP structure) from Collibra systems, which serve as metamodel archives for Data Governance.
- 3D Character Data: In some cases, the CMA file holds character appearance data for Custom Maid 3D (encoded in JSON), used within the game’s framework.
- Printer Color Management: Certain CMA files act as Chroma printer files or color management files in workflows associated with ChromaRIP and ColorGATE RIP.
- Business Intelligence: They also appear as Cognos TM1 application files (UTF-8 encoded) or as hierarchy and multidimensional metadata files (UTF-16 LE encoded) used in IBM Cognos TM1 and SAP BusinessObjects environments. For more company-specific info, you can visit IBM or SAP.
- 3D Animation: Some versions of CMA files store camera animation data for Delight3D, with ties to Autodesk.
- Activity Tracking: There are also instances where the CMA file is used by CMA Coach 6 for activity data.
FilExt.com note: To work with a CMA file, you should first determine its origin. Often, the file’s internal format (such as ZIP, JSON, UTF-8, or UTF-16) and the context in which it was created provide clues to which dedicated software is needed for proper viewing or editing.
How do you open CMA files?
You need a suitable software like Comprehensive Meta-Analysis to open a CMA file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your CMA file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a CMA file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

CMA file format:
If you know the file format, you can also find out how to open or edit the file. The file format can be determined based on the file extension and the signature (the first few characters of a file). Nonetheless, different programs can utilize the same file extension to represent distinct file formats. Double-clicking on the file often results in an error when opening. Exact knowledge of the format is therefore important in order to solve problems occurring in files. Our evaluation of the CMA files is as follows:
As a file extension, CMA isn't very common and covers different formats for different programs. The following file formats are most commonly found in CMA files:
- 20% of all CMA files start with the bytes -lh5- crucial for this file format. The content consists of illegible binary data, which can only be read and interpreted by the associated programs. The file size is in the range of 18 KB to 140 KB. The file type was developed only in the last few years. Files like these are about meta and analysis.
- 20% of all CMA files use the popular JSON file format. JSON (JavaScript Object Notation) is a lightweight data−interchange format. It is easy for humans to read and write. It is easy for machines to parse and generate. The contents of these files can even be read by a human. A typical file size is 3 KB. Certain words are almost always found in the files, such as "MainHand": {, "OffHand": {, DateCreated, Description, Item1, "Item4": 0, "Item3": 1 and "Item2": 1. The following filename is common: nanaru ninico.cma. Such files are related to ruri.
All other CMA files (60%) have no consistent format, such as OCaml bytecode, ZIP, UTF-8, Chroma and Deli. Tagged as pass, integration, metamodel, client, data or groups. If you want to find out what your CMA file contains, drag and drop it onto this page.
Technical Data for CMA File Extension
a cma data file is a special file format and should only be edited and saved with the appropriate software.
How to solve problems with CMA files
- Associate the CMA file extension with the correct application.
- Update your software that should actually open data files. Because only the current version supports the latest CMA file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the manufacturer website after an available Comprehensive Meta-Analysis update.
- To make sure that your CMA file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
- Click here to open your .CMA file online - secure, fast, and no downloads needed.
