CTD file format:
The file format determines how the data is stored in the file. The initial characters of a file are called signature, sometimes also referred to as "magic bytes". The signature can be used to infer the file format. However, different programs can use the same file extension. Furthermore, a file extension can be renamed incorrectly and double-clicking on it will then display an error when it is opened. So you need a detailed analysis of a file to find out the format and the associated program. Our analysis of the CTD files produces the following result:
As a file extension, CTD isn't very common and includes different formats for different programs. But the following two file formats are common:
- 25% of all CTD files belong to CherryTree note. The files are using the common file format XML. The Extensible Markup Language (XML) is a simple text-based format for representing structured information: documents, webpages, data, configuration, books, transactions, invoices, and much more. XML defines a set of rules for encoding documents in a format that is both human-readable and machine-readable. These files are plain text, which means they can be viewed with any text editor such as Windows Editor, Nano for Linux, and TextEdit for macOS. Most of these files are 10 KB to 1 MB in size. The file type is old but is used even today. The following keywords are characteristic: prog_lang, readonly, tags, custom-colors, <cherrytree>, is_bold, foreground, False, ts_creation, name, <?xml version="1.0" ?>, <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>, node name, unique_id, <node custom_icon_id="0" and bookmarks list. Files like these have the following tags: notes and osint.
- 20% of all CTD files use the same file format, which have the signature Ship, R/V Seifu Maru, Cruise number, . The contents of these files are easily readable with a text editor. A typical file size is 13 KB. The following keywords are characteristic: CastNo, Cruise number, Date, Format, No.of Records, Seifu Maru, Ship, Station, V Seifu Maru, Lon and Time.
The remaining 55% of all CTD files are files with no common format, such as RSC. Files like these are sometimes linked to background. Just click the "Choose your .ctd file to analyze" button on this page to find out what your CTD file is.
