Opening a CTI File
The CTI file type is primarily associated with DICOM viewer.
What is a CTI file?
Some CTI files follow the Camera Transport Interface format used with GenICam standards. These files help manage image data transfer in industrial camera systems. More details can be found on the GenICam website.
Other variants include configuration files for OMSI 2 (bus repaint settings), network analyzer data for RF/microwave measurements from companies like Agilent and Keysight, and even chemical kinetics input for Cantera (Cantera).
Usage examples include:
How to open a CTI file
You need a suitable software like DICOM viewer to open a CTI file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your CTI file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a CTI file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

Programs that open and convert CTI files:
- DICOM viewer
See the previous paragraphs to learn more about the main application. CTI files are often referred to as DICOM viewer data files because this type of file is primarily created or used by this software.
- Collectorz.com (Template Info File) by Bitz & PixelzCollectorz.com is a series of database programs for cataloging your personal collection of music, movies, books, comics, video games, audio files (MP3/WMA/OGG etc..) and digital photo files. When the program starts it scans the Templates subfolder for available *.CTI files. These files contain information about the templates (description, template type, item type, etc..). After that the templates show up in the appropriate template selection lists in the program, depending on the template and item types defined in the CTI files. The identifying characters used for this association are - Hex: 3C 74 65 6D 70 6C 61 74 65 5F 69 6E 66 6F 3E, ASCII: .template_info. Related links: Collectorz.com Template Info File Format

CTI file format details:
The file format, which is the arrangement and type of data in a file, determines which program can open the file. A file format is determined by the file extension and signature, so JPEG images have the extension .jpg and the first bytes in the file are ÿØÿ. If the file extension does not match the file format, double-clicking on the file will cause an error upon opening. If there are problems opening a file, you must first determine the file format used. Our analysis of the CTI files produces the following result:
The CTI file extension is very common and includes different formats for the applicable programs. However, the following two file formats are common:
- 60% of all CTI files are DICOM scientific imaging bitmap files, which are using the popular DICOM file format. DICOM is short for Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine. DICOM files are used to store, exchange, and transmit medical images from radiography, ultrasonography, computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and radiation therapy, but also personal data about the patient. The content consists of illegible binary data, which can only be read and interpreted by the associated programs. CTI files are between 520 KB and 530 KB in size. It is a modern file type. Several words can almost always be found in the files, e.g. 1.2.840.10008.5.1.4.1.1.2 and DICM. The following filename is common: 0001.cti or 0002.cti.
- 6% of all CTI files use the same file format, which can be identified by the letters "***************************************" at the beginning. The content consists of readable text data, which can be read using a text editor. The file size is in the range of 160 bytes to 2 KB. The keywords ************, [item], repaint and farbschema are typical for these files. The file name Repaints.cti or ALU.cti is typical for these files.
All other CTI files (34%) have different formats, frequently e.g. Bitz and Pixels XML Report Template Info for collectorz, EXE, ELF, CITIFILE, units and Hier. These files are often connected to gentl, flir, mech, gentlproducer, produceru or glass. If you want to find out which format your CTI file belongs to, just click on the button "Choose your .cti file to analyze".
Technical Data for CTI File Extension
a cti data file is a special file format and should only be edited and saved with the appropriate software.
How to solve problems with CTI files
- Associate the CTI file extension with the correct application.
- Update your software that should actually open data files. Because only the current version supports the latest CTI file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the manufacturer website after an available DICOM viewer update.
- To make sure that your CTI file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
- Click here to open your .CTI file online - secure, fast, and no downloads needed.
