What is a DFL file?

To view or edit DFL files you need to know the file format, because it determines how the data in this file is stored. The file format can be deduced from the file extension and the signature. The DFL file type is a very commonly used file extension and mainly uses a defined DFL format. The two most common formats are as follows:

• 70% of all DFL files use the Microsoft Compound File format, which is also known as Compound File Binary File format (CFBF or CFB) or OLE2 Compound Document format. This file format is used by previous Microsoft Office programs and other Windows programs and stores the data in complex containers and sections. The Compound Document format is always starting with the bytes D0 CF 11 E0 A1 B1 1A E1. The data in this file is stored in streams whose names are Header, SaveRecallManager and SaveItems. The file size is in the range of 36 KB to 2 MB. It is a modern file type. Save.dfl is a typical file name. These files are often associated with data, settings, power and quick.
• 8% of all DFL files have the same signature 0200. These are binary files, so they do not contain words or text. DFL files can be up to 24 MB in size, but are often around 55 KB - 12 MB. Several words can almost always be found in the files, e.g. 322000V. The following filename is common: MMFPOIA.dfl or MMDPOIA.dfl.
