What is a DG file?

DG files mostly belong to DataGraph.

DG files are used by several distinct applications and store different kinds of data. They may contain compressed graphic information, CAD drawings, dependency graphs, robot configuration data, SQL reports, or genealogy information.

• DataGraph files: These files use a GZIP-compressed format to hold graphic data, often known as a Data General graphic file. They are opened with programs like DataGraph.

How to open DG files

You need a suitable software like DataGraph to open a DG file. Why is it important to know the file format? This is the only way to find out which program to use to open the file. Each file format has a unique extension and almost always a unique signature. For example, Microsoft Word documents have the extension .docx and the signature (usually the first 3 characters in this file) PK.
