Opening a DOK File
The DOK file type is primarily associated with Corel Draw.
What is a DOK file
It was designed to store vector graphics created during a time when Corel Draw used a unique binary structure. This structure can hold curves, layers, and metadata for detailed drawings.
How to open DOK files
You need a suitable software like Corel Draw to open a DOK file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your DOK file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a DOK file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

DOK file format:
Why is it important to know the file format? This is the only way to find out which program to use to open the file. Often, the file format can be deduced from the file extension or the initial bytes (called the signature). However, different programs can use the same file extension, and file extensions can be assigned incorrectly. So you need a detailed analysis of a file to find out the format and the associated program. Below you will find our evaluation of the DOK files:
DOK is rarely used as a file extension and includes very many different file formats. But the following two file formats are common:
- 15% of all DOK files are Windows DesktopOK icons layout files, which are based on the config file format. A configuration file is used by computer software to store settings. It consists of a text-based content with a structure and syntax comprising key–value pairs for properties, and sections that organize the properties. The contents of these files cannot be read by a human; only a computer program can interpret the data. The average file size is 5 KB with most files being between 2 KB and 11 KB in size. The files contain the following words: DesktopOK-Icon-Layout. The file name DesktopOK_2020-06-01 10-30_1920x1080.dok is characteristic of these files. Such DOK files store data about desktopok.
- 9% of all DOK files use the same file format, which can be identified by the letters "D5ÿÿ" at the beginning. The content consists of illegible binary data, which can only be read and interpreted by the associated programs. The average file size is 290 KB with most files being between 110 KB and 680 KB in size.
The remaining 76% of all DOK files are files with no common format, often e.g. XML and ZIP. The category is memio or hibiki. If you want to find out which format your DOK file belongs to, just click on the button "Choose your .dok file to analyze".

- Associate the DOK file extension with the correct application.
- Update your software that should actually open drawing files. Because only the current version supports the latest DOK file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the manufacturer website after an available Corel Draw update.
- To make sure that your DOK file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
