What is a DXP file?

DXP files mostly belong to Spotfire by TIBCO. A DXP file contains Dexpot virtual desktop manager's settings (profile). Braille Translator uses a DXP file to store a plain text document which can be translated to braille format. Another type of DXP file contains analysis data generated by Spotfire data analytics software. DXP is also the filename extension of an XML-encoded list of data to be burned to a compact disc using CDBurnerXP. Printed circuit board design programs such as OrCAD, Eagle, and Altium Designer (previously Protel PCB) export a printed circuit board design as a DXP file. OpenOffice productivity software suite saves its exports definition in a DXP file.

How to open DXP files

You need a suitable software like Spotfire to open a DXP file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your DXP file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a DXP file directly in the browser:. To view or edit DXP files you need to know the file format, because it determines how the data in this file is stored. The initial characters of a file are called signature, sometimes also referred to as "magic bytes". The signature can be used to infer the file format. How to solve problems with DXP files

Associate the DXP file extension with the correct application.
Update your software that should actually open data analysis. Because only the current version supports the latest DXP file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the TIBCO manufacturer website after an available Spotfire update.
