What is an EID file

EID files mostly belong to eID Middleware. EID files serve several distinct roles. They are most commonly used as Belgian electronic ID card files that hold personal identification data. These files are managed by official software such as eID Middleware and viewed with applications like the Belgian eID Viewer. Compressed Database: Some files use the ZIP format to store archived data. They are typically managed with tools like WinZip.

Exam Documents: A number of EID files use the Microsoft Compound format. These hold exam data and are sometimes known as the Exam Data Interchange Format, which can be opened by compatible programs such as ExamView or even Microsoft Word.

Bulgarian Accounting Files: Certain files carry revenue data for the Bulgarian Revenue Agency and work with specialized accounting software.

Game Resource Archives: A few EID files are used by game engines (for instance, the Enigma Engine) to package game resources such as those in Serious Sam.

How to open EID files

You need a suitable software like eID Middleware to open an EID file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your EID file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a EID file directly in the browser:. To find out what program is needed to open EID files, you need to determine the file format. A file format is determined by the file extension and signature, so JPEG images have the extension .jpg and the first bytes in the file are ÿØÿ. If the file extension or signature does not match the file format, errors will occur when opening or editing the file. So you need a detailed analysis of a file to find out the format and the associated program. Below is our analysis of the EID files:

EID is not a common file extension and includes different formats for different programs. The file formats most commonly found in EID files are:

• 45% of all EID files use the popular XML file format. The Extensible Markup Language (XML) is a simple text-based format for representing structured information: documents, webpages, data, configuration, books, transactions, invoices, and much more. XML defines a set of rules for encoding documents in a format that is both human-readable and machine-readable. The contents of these files can even be read by a human. Most of these files are 12 KB to 15 KB in size. The file type was developed only in the last few years. The files contain the following words: NO_STATUS, dateofbirth, firstname, gender, identity nationalnumber, specialstatus, <eid>, male, middlenames and female. Such files are related to paspoort, and contain personal data.
• 15% of all EID files use ZIP compression, so multiple files are compressed and stored together in one EID file. 22 to 117 compressed files are common. If you want to see the included files and images, simply rename the file extension to .zip and double-click it. The files are often between 1 MB and 50 MB in size.
